Vampire Stalker

Vampire Stalker by Allison Van Diepen

I give this 4 out of 5 stars.

Have you every fallen for a fictional character?  Amy has.  She is in love with a vampire hunter from one of her favorite series Otherworld named Alexander Banks.  A few days after the newest book from the series comes out, Amy is attacked by a strange young man and then saved by an Alexander look alike.   Amy does not believe that this man could be The Alexander Banks, but he proceeds to show her all of his scars from his vampire run ins which makes her believe him.  And the man who attacked her happens to be the infamous Vigo who is the leader of the vampires.  Somehow they have traveled through a portal into Amy's dimension.  Now Alexander must kill Vigo once and for all before Amy's world becomes infested with vampires like Alexander's is.  Amy's feelings for Alexander seem to grow after meeting him in person, but once the deed has been completed Alexander must leave before the portal closes or else he will never be able to go back.

This was a very interesting book.  I have never read anything quite like this.  Even though some parts could have been written a little better, I loved the idea of this book.  I agree with the author that some books just feel very real unlike others.  It's all about the little details given to the characters to make readers fall in love wit; however, this book doesn't have those details to make me fall in love with the characters, but Van Diepen did do her research in adding a detailed explanation on how Alexander was able to cross into Amy's world and how the author of Otherworld was able to tap into the minds of those from Alexander's world.  Overall I liked this book because of the idea behind it.  If it didn't have this interesting twist; then, this book would not be very good.

Academy 7

Academy 7 by Anne Ousterlund

I give this a 1 out of 5 stars.

Aerin Renning has secrets and a dark past.  She's accepted into the most prestigious school Alliance which takes her by surprise since she isn't even a citizen, but that won't stop her from going.  She keeps herself isolated in fear that her secrets might become exposed.  Because she isn't from their world, Aerin must spend all her time researching Alliance in hopes of being invited back to Academy 7.

Dane Madousin is the son of a very powerful man in Alliance.  His father is the General and is on the Council, a small circle that governs Alliance.  Going to Academy 7 was never a dream of Dane's, but anything to get away from his excuse for a father.  Dane finds out that he is at the top of his classes except one--Physical Combat.

After a mishap in the computer lab, Dane and Aerin are forced to work together as punishment.  After weeks of silence, secrets are revealed. Dane and Aerin quickly begin to realize they much more in common than they ever though before.

Overall this book was not one that I will ever read again. The book is written in third person switching point of views every second.  It is very hard to keep track of what has happened and is very slow.  There is no real meaning behind this book, no message.  The characters aren't described well, so it is hard to connect.  For me, books with well written character are the best books because we grow to love the character and connect with them, but the character in Academy 7 weren't given a personality.

Some Research....

I have been doing a little research to see some other styles of writing reviews and seeing some different books I should read, so I can write a review.

Getting my thoughts together...

I haven't been researching lately, but I have been reading for my reviews.  I need to set up my basic review set up with all the parts that I want.  I know I need to have a sentence or two at the beginning of my review to show the readers a little bit of what this book is about.  Then I need to write what I thought about the certain books and if they are age appropriate for younger readers.  Also, I want to try to set up a rating system for each book.  The books I choose to write reviews will mostly be Young Adult books.  I will have to have a website to put all of my reviews on, so I will need to research some on that soon. I know that on the front page of the website or atleast on the website somewhere I want to put when new books are coming out or when some other Young Adult books come out that appear to be interesting.
I used the links below to help me with my review for Vampire Academy.

So for my review I think I want to keep them all something like this....

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead Review
I would give this book 5 out of 5 stars.
Rose Hathaway is not your average teen, she is stronger and faster.  She is a dhamphir, a half-vampire half-human hybrid.  She lives in a world where there are two types of vampires, the good mortals who can weld magic, the moroi and the undead immortal evil vampires, the strigoi both drink blood, but are completely different.  Moroi can go into the sun, but strigoi cannot.  Dhamphirs protect the moroi from evil strigoi. Rose is training to be able to protect moroi from the evil vampires at her vampire boarding school St Vladimirs. Rose is very special, she can see into her best friend Lissa’s mind and can feel all of her emotions.  Sure Rose is feisty, sassy, and disrespectful teen, but she is extremely loyal.  Rose is the kind of girl you don’t want to be on her bad side.  With this uncontrollable girl comes the only guy that seems to be able to control Rose and his name is Dimitri. Dimitri is Rose’s personal guardian mentor.  He is a god among the dhamphirs for his legendary strigoi killing skills and his killer looks.  Even though this book is set in practically another world, they all are still in high school, and we all know with high school comes drama.  And can you guess where most of this drama is centered???
Vampire Academy is the world I want to live in.  This book is adventurous, humorous and even has a bit romance.  Packed full of suspension and excitement, teens won’t want to put this intriguing book down once they start reading. This amazing story sucked me in and still won’t let me out.
Read about Rose’s adventures in Vampire Academy.  Then continue on with Rose’s story in the next book of the thrilling Vampire Academy Series.
This book is for middle school and up.  I would rate this book PG-13.  There are, in the later books and a little bit in this book, fighting scenes and some suggestive situations that the characters get into.
I still need to fix some things, but this is sort of what I want to have my reviews all look like.

Old Researching....

August 16, 2011

As of yesterday I have official decided what my personal project is going to be.  I want to write book reviews and post them on a website, so that teens my age will have some choices of books they can read if they love to read and can’t find anything new to read.  Starting off I am just going to write reviews for the books I have in my personal library, but I hope to expand my reviews to different genres and having people write their own reviews for books to put on my website.

I am looking at how people set up their reviews right now to get an idea and hopefully find a set up I will use in my reviews.  I think I am going to have a book of the week for my favorite book at the moment with that certain books review and summary.  Then I will have a link of the books I am currently reading.  And I will have on another link all the reviews I have done hopefully by genre and age group it will fall under.

http://www.bookreview.com/$spindb.query.listreview2.booknew.19082  I really like how this cite sets up their reviews.

http://www.allreaders.com/bookSearcha.asp#S2  I know my reviews aren’t going to be big enough to do this, but hopefully one day it will be.  I really love this! You can choose what your main character is like and find a book!

I am going to start writing reviews tomorrow or after I finish a my next book.

I just started a little research again.  I really want to do a rating system and my take on this.  Also I think it will be a good idea to put a summary of some sort.
